When I say it was the best experience of my life… I mean it!

“The program was very well organized. I like how the class went as well. It was fun to blog about our experiences so our family at home could see what we were doing abroad. I also really enjoyed the group dinners. Those might have been my favorite.”  KELLIANNE, 2012

“Overall, this trip was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I appreciated how much we were able to do in the short amount of time that is a month. The food is certainly part of the experience of Italy, and I really appreciated the caliber of restaurants and food we were able to enjoy. The sights we chose to see and explore were incredible. There was a great balance between freedom to explore Rome, and mandatory tours/outings. I found myself amazed for the majority of the trip, and extremely grateful of the things I was able to see, places I was able to go, and things I was able to eat!”   KAYLA, 2012

“…the whole trip went incredibly well… Every group dinner was amazing and all the places we ate at were just awesome (I still haven’t eaten Italian food since I’ve been back for fear of being disappointed). St. Johns was a great place to stay as transportation was so easy from there.”   NICK, 2012

“I knew that I was going to love the social media end of the class and the blogging, but I also was introduced to something very interesting that I would have never stumbled upon otherwise, Italian film. They were mesmerizing. This program was incredibly well done and went very smoothly for its first run. This has honestly been the best month of my life.”    MOLLY, 2012 (at the time, already a veteran of two other Hofstra study abroad programs)

“The month that I spent in Italy with the Hofstra Romans was truly one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve been dreaming of going to Italy for as long as I can remember and this trip definitely did not disappoint! Thinking back, I still can’t believe how much I was able to see and do during my time in Italy. I really enjoyed all of our group dinners. Each time, I was sitting with a different mix of people and it allowed me to get to know everyone better. Additionally, the food was amazing at pretty much every place we ate. I actually enjoyed class for the most part; for the first time that I can remember, I didn’t mind having to do homework… because I was interested to learn more about the places that we had visited.   I had an amazing time!”    JENNA, 2012

“…We hear from her all the time about running into [students] from Rome and the friendships that spawned from that.”  Papa Meyer, 2012 (writing in the following semester)

“I couldn’t have asked for more out of this experience…and I had the time of my life. I’ll never forget it and will recommend it ten times over.”   ASHLEY, 2012

“To begin, this trip, a last minute decision for myself was one of the most rejuvenating and rewarding experiences a girl could hope for in her life.  A month of adventuring to never before seen places, doing things I never thought in my right mind were possible, as well as meeting new people.  It was incredible; moments of unbelievable joy and moments of feelings I don’t even know how to describe.  No adjective really feels right.  Rome was romantic and just flawless.  I loved every little bit.  I was so happy the whole time.  This trip is definitely for the adventuring seeking college warrior, and Bus2Alps [tour company of the two included weekend trips] was awesome! Best trip and goes down in history!!”    MEG, 2012

“…the trip was absolutely incredible. I learned more than I ever could in a classroom, and this program is bound to be a huge success in years to come. The program was a revolutionary thing for Hofstra University’s School of Communication.”   ALEXIS, 2012

“…it is almost unbelievable how much the group experienced. I really feel we were able to experience just about everything Rome has to offer, with the perfect balance of historical sites and modern day life. The program allowed plenty of time to explore the city, and all of Italy, at one’s leisure, while still providing enough structure to allow for learning in a group environment. The group excursions were educational and served as an excellent way to get to know Rome and the transportation system in a safe setting. This program is something I will never forget and I am so thankful I was able to be a part of it.  It was an amazing experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I feel I have grown and learned a great deal from the trip, both academically and personally. I fully intend on visiting Italy again, and recommending this program to any Hofstra student.”   AUDRIE, 2012

“I just want to thank you for taking care of every detail, planning such wonderful and interesting trips and excursions for all, and just taking such good care of everyone in general!!  Alexa had the most wonderful time, and we thank you for all you did to make it so!”      MOMMA ALVEY, 2012

“My experience with the SCO in Rome program was fairly close to perfect. One month in a city with so much history etched into it was fascinating and awe inspiring. I couldn’t have asked for a better, more enriching experience. It was priceless to be able to study famous Italian films and then walk down the same streets where the characters did and see the same thing that they saw first hand. I found myself having such a thirst for knowledge about the city and the people. The St. Johns University facilities also helped make the trip wonderful. They were clean, orderly and well run so I felt safe and comfortable in my temporary home. The location of the facility was also perfect. It’s in the heart of the city and because it was walking distance from the Metro, we were easily able to explore different parts of the city. Also, since we were right near the Tiber river, we were able to fully enjoy the nightlife that Rome had to offer us.”    ALEXA, 2012
